• Gallium
  • Properties
  • A chemical element with symbol Ga belongs to group III, period 4 in the periodic table. Its melting point 29.7646℃, boiling point 2204℃ and density 5.91g/cm3. A silver white metal has similar physical properties to aluminum; it dissolves in acid and alkaline solution to generate hydrogen. It is low in melting point, relatively stable in the air and not reactive with water.
It is recovered mainly from aluminum smelting process as a by-product, and widely used as LED, CIGS, phosphor and OLED material (IGZO target).
